Meet Our Team

Ryan Mirrione

LMHC, LPC, MS
Owner/Operator of RM Counseling

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Monmouth University. I then earned my master’s degree in mental health counseling at Barry University where I interned as a mental health counselor at a local homeless shelter. I have worked with a variety of populations and have conducted both couples therapy and individual therapy sessions as well as facilitated a multitude of group therapy sessions. I use tenets of cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and client-centered therapy to create an integrated approach to the therapeutic process. As a firm believer in unconditional positive regard when working with clients, I look to create an open, honest, and positive environment for my clients to thrive and grow.

My job in this process is to remove obstacles to growth. As your therapist, I will never judge or challenge the emotions that you feel. Our goal will be to identify the thoughts and behaviors that are causing some of the struggles you are having in your life and restructure them. With your willingness to implement some new coping skills and behaviors, I believe that we can make great strides in helping you find some peace and happiness in your life.

Malia has over five years of counseling experience across a variety of treatment settings which include, inpatient substance abuse, trauma counseling, and community-based services. She has worked with diverse population, and thus uses and integrated approach to counseling. Various approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused, Positive Psychology, along with psycho-education, mindfulness, and faith based approaches, are tailored to the individual need of each client. A holistic approach is utilized by exploring with and educating clients about how mind, spirit and body are interconnected. Her theory is that when people have hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, they then become free to experience change.
